Meet Member - KENNY STOVES
By Naomi Bryson
After volunteering for the first two requests for help, Kenny Stoves, sent a message to the members in attendance at the meeting that he wanted to get involved in the AAASL in a meaningful way. The African American Association of Sun Lakes is an organization that brings together a group of individuals residing in Sun Lakes, AZ who share similar interests, seek recreation and social interaction. Kenny stated that he believes that the organization educates others about African-American history and brings all races together. Rosetta Sheer is the current president of AAASL.
Kenny serves on the committee to recommend revisions to the website for economy efficiency. He finds this as a challenging role, but is excited to make a contribution. He finds that his previous education (Masters in Business Administration) and work experience as Executive Administrator in the U.S. Airforce and Operations Management in Logistics, to be helpful. He recently retired as supervisor of the Iron Oaks Patrol and Gate Team in Sun Lakes. Kenny Stoves, age 64 is divorced and ready to date again. He is the proud father of two children and grandfather of four. He is pleased that his children and grand children live nearby his current residence in Ocotillo. He loves the Ocotillo and Sun Lakes areas and once lived in Palo Verde. He has three siblings: 2 brothers living in Florida and a sister who lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.
When asked about his bucket list, Kenny responded excitedly that he is making plans to visit the Netherlands in Europe and Portugal in March and also plans to visit Bali, Indonesia and Thailand (Asia) in May. He has recently taken a cruise which afforded himself opportunities to visit some of the Caribbean Islands including St. Thomas and St. Croix and Puerto Rico.
What else does Kenny do for fun? He plays golf with a respectable handicap and collects world paper money. He loves helping people and wants to make new friends. Kenny saw the need for each AAASL member to have a copy of the organization’s bylaws, so he made copies for all members.
Kenny is considered fastidious in his dress and surroundings by his own admission. He also thinks that he is a good cook. Jokingly, he said that he could cook for the AAASL Jazz in the Park event which was held in the Spring. Wow! If you want to join Kenny in sharing your energy within a great organization, visit the website at AAASL.Club.
