Thank You for a Beautiful Afternoon Under the Sun
On April 18, 2026, 81 friends, neighbors, and new faces gathered at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler for an afternoon that felt like exactly what community is supposed to feel like. Laid back. Lively. Full of laughter, great food, and the kind of good music that makes you forget to check your phone. Recording Artist Yorman Williams and Yor Band of Gold delivered an unforgettable performance — weaving old favorites and new sounds into a set that had everyone smiling, swaying, and asking "when's the next one?" Famous Dave's BBQ kept the plates full and the compliments coming. And the people? They came from near and far — from New York, from Tolleson, from Laveen — all finding their way to Sun Lakes for an afternoon well spent. This is what AAASL does. This is who we are.
None of this happens without people who show up and give generously of their time. A heartfelt thank you to our elected Events Coordinator, Jackie Slaughter, who orchestrated every detail with grace and intention — and to the incredible member volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make sure every guest felt welcomed:
Freddie · Patricia · Jeff · Colleen · Raleigh · Mina · Rochelle · Kevin · Maryann · Leonard · Tony · Denise · Sonda Jr. and Shirley
And to anyone else who stepped in, lent a hand, or simply showed up with a willing heart — thank you. You are the backbone of this community.
